AWARD
Atlantic Security Award (May 8)
Applications are now open for the Atlantic Security Award, a partnership between the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD), the Atlantic Centre (AC), and National Defence Institute (IDN). The award will distinguish researchers of all nationalities in the fields of security and defence of the atlantic space and the applications will be open until May 8, 2026.
The award will finance two research projects of high cientific merit dedicated to security and defence in the Atlantic. The winning projects will receive 15.000€ each and will be developed for eight mounths, beginning in 2026.

XIV Lisbon Forum (April 21)
The Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP), the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre (LPL) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and the Centre of Innovation, Administration and Judiciary Research – FGV Justiça (FGV) are holding the fourteenth edition of the Lisbon Forum on the June 1, 2 and 3, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

On April 20, 2026, the 4th International Congress on Political Science and International Relations: “Geopolitics and the New World Order” will be held at Fernando Pessoa University in Porto, Portugal.

XI IDN Youth Seminar (March 27)
The National Defense Institute (IDN), in a joint organization with several Political Science and International Relations Student Groups from Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, will hold the XI IDN Youth Seminar on April 14 and 15, 2026, at the University of Aveiro, aimed at all higher education students who wish to participate.
At each university, undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, or postgraduate students, either individually or in groups (no more than five members), are encouraged to prepare papers on security and defense topics to be submitted to the IDN by March 27, 2026.

Second Doctoral Conference APCP (March 2)
The Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) will hold the second edition of its Doctoral Conference on 29–30 May 2026 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, with institutional support from the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra (CES-UC).
Abstract submissions must be made by March 2, 2026.

AWARD
FLAD Political Science Award (March 1)
The award will distinguish students who have completed a master’s degree at a Portuguese university in the field of Political Science and International Relations and whose dissertation reveals potential for academic research in their area of study. Two master’s theses in the areas of Political Science and International Relations will be rewarded with participation in the next annual congress of the American Political Science Association (APSA), which will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, from September 3 to 6, 2026.
Applications are open until March 1, 2026.
